Paa’, ‘3 Idiots’ and ‘Luck By Chance’ bag total of 14 awards including Best film, Best actor, and actress
Mumbai, 11th January 2010: – Reliance Big Pictures triple whammy at the 16th Star Screen Award bagged top honours at the award ceremony. 3 major films from the Reliance Big Pictures stable ‘Paa’, ‘3 Idiots’ and ‘Luck By Chance’ bagged total 14 awards this year in all major categories along with the popular category.
The year’s biggest blockbuster 3 Idiots bagged total of 8 awards. Including the Best Film of the year, Rajkumar Hirani won the best director award and shared the best screenplay award with Abhijat Joshi. The award for the best performance in a comic role went to Omi Vaidya along with the most promising newcomer, while the award for the best actor in a negative role went to Boman Irani. Kareena Kapoor received Best Actress award in the popular choice category for the film along with the film bagging the best dialogue category award.
R Balki’s take on a special father-son relationship ‘Paa’ swept the acting categories this year. The Most adorable kid ‘Auro’ from the film Paa none other than Mr. Amitabh Bachchan received the Best Actor award along with Vidya Balan who won the Best Actor (female) award for her role as a beleaguered single mother. Arundhati Nag, who played Auro’s grandmother in the film, won the Best Supporting Actor (female) award. And Pratik Katare the adorable Vishnu won the Best Child Artiste award for the film Paa.
Rishi Kapoor won the Best Supporting Actor (male) award for his spot-on portrayal of a movie producer in debutant director Zoya Akhtar’s Luck By Chance. The film also bagged Best Ensemble Cast award.
In 2010 Reliance Big Pictures has a very strong lineup that includes tent poles like Hrithik Roshan’s Kites (that has an Indian and International version) & Mani Ratnam’s (Hindi, Tamil, Telegu) Ravaana starring Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, midsized films like Shyam Bengal’s Well Done Abba, Vinay Shukla’s Mirch. Under regional slate two Bengali films from masters like Buddha Dasgupta’s Janala and Rituparo Ghosh’s Abohomaan, Padmashri M .S. Tamil superstar Surya and director Hari known as the hit combination in Kollywood come together for their next Tamil film Singam starring Anukha in the female lead.
