London, 1st September 2015

Reliance Entertainment and Pathé announced that principal photography started on Sunday 30 August on VICEROY’S HOUSE. The film will shoot for 8 weeks in Jodhpur, India.

VICEROY’S HOUSE will be directed by Gurinder Chadha (Bend it like Beckham) from a screenplay by Gurinder Chadha, Paul Mayeda Berges and Moira Buffini.

British cast are led by Hugh Bonneville (Downton Abbey, Paddington) as Lord Mountbatten; Gillian Anderson (The X Files, House of Mirth) as his wife, Lady Mountbatten; Lily Travers (Kingsman) as their daughter, Pamela; and Sir Michael Gambon (Harry Potter, Quartet) and Simon Callow (A Room With A View, Four Weddings and a Funeral) as key civil servants.

Viceroy’s House in Delhi was the home of the British rulers of India.

For 6 months in 1947, Lord Mountbatten assumed the post of the last Viceroy, charged with handing India back to its people.

Mountbatten lived upstairs together with his wife and daughter. Downstairs lived their 500 Hindu, Muslim and Sikh servants.

Against this turbulent backdrop, the personal and the political became deeply entwined and a decision was taken that continues to reverberate through history.

The film is produced by Deepak Nayar (Bend it like Beckham, The End of Violence, Buena Vista Social Club), Gurinder Chadha and Paul Mayeda Berges. The film is executive produced by Pathã Cameron McCracken, Reliance Entertainment’s Shibasish Sarkar, BBC Films’ Christine Langan, the BFIs Ben Roberts and Ingenious Media’s Tim OShea.

The film is a Pathé, Reliance Entertainment, BBC Films, Ingenious and BFI presentation of a Bend It Films/Deepak Nayar Production in association with the FilmVast and Filmgate Films.

Pathé will distribute the film in the UK and France and will handle sales throughout the rest of the world. Reliance Entertainment will distribute the film in India.

The government of Uttar Pradesh has declared the Ayushman Khuranna starrer Hawaizaada tax free in the state.

Following closely on the heels of PK, the government of Uttar Pradesh has declared the Ayushman Khuranna starrer Hawaizaada tax free in the state.

Presented by Reliance Entertianment, Hawaizaada is inspired from the life and works of Shivkar Talpade who flew the first ever unmanned plane 8 years before the Wright Brothers. Set in 1895 during the British Raj, the film is directed by Vibhu Puri who worked with Sanjay Leela Bhansali in Sawariya & others. Commenting on the development Sanjeev Lamba CEO, Reliance Entertainment said We are extremely happy to receive the tax free grant. This will ensure that the film will reach out to a much larger audience base. The achievements of Shivkar Talpade are largely undocumented and even un-credited. This film is our attempt to highlight one of his biggest achievements of flying the first plane ever at Chowpatty , Mumbai in 1895. We are glad the authorities agreed with us on making the film available as tax free and we hope to follow suit in other states.

Echoing the sentiments Vibhu Puri said, I am thankful to the authorities for this grant. It took me almost five years to put my vision on the big screen. Now I am sure the film will get its full potential reach in the state of Uttar Pradesh.

The film also features Pallavi Sharda and Mithun Chakraborty .

The film is slated for a global release on Jan 30th , 2015.

The conditions are that they have to act in their own short films, they have to travel to the producer’s bungalow in a jungle to give him a joint narration of their individual stories and the short films need to have a common theme Death. Since Diptyo and Trina have had an affair in the past with Shakyo being the silent third angle, Jayobrato has a difficult time convincing them but eventually succeeds.
