September 21, 2009: Do Knot Disturb a co-production between BIG Pictures and Puja Entertainment is all set to release worldwide on 2nd October, 2009. As part of the marketing efforts for the film over the weekend, BIG Music used ‘Flash Mobs’ that visited Delhi malls to promote the music and movie.

The two super fun dance tracks from the film ‘Bebo’ & ‘Mere Naal’ have a distinctive Punjabi tadka and have has been ruling the charts ever since the film’s music was launched. A group of young dancers dressed in Do Knot Disturb attire visited malls of Delhi and broke into a dance to the Do Knot Disturb soundtrack. They grooved to the hit songs ‘Bebo’ and ‘Mere Naal’ across 9 malls with highest footfalls in Delhi over the weekend (18, 19 and 20th September) and reached out to more than 20,000 people.

This flash mob strategy instantly engaged the shoppers present in the malls and moviegoers entering and exiting multiplexes. It was an instantaneous success with many onlookers joining the dancers.

After receiving a stupendous response in Delhi, BIG Music now plans to take this activation to other cities in the coming weeks.

Mumbai, 17th September, 2009: Following the overwhelming response for David Dhawan’s ‘Do Knot Disturb’s’ song ‘Bebo’, BIG Pictures and Puja Entertainment have decided to shoot an additional video for its remix version. The film will release worldwide on October 2, 2009.

Picturized today at filmistan on Govinda, Ritiesh Deshmukh and Sushmita Sen, this remixed song has a super cool, youthful feel with choreography by Remo. While Govinda will be seen in his slim look for this racy song, Ritiesh is looking his charming self and Sushmita is shimmering with oomph as always.

The remixed version of ‘Bebo’ will be used as a promotional song for the film and will be on- air soon. Director David Dhawan says, “‘Bebo’ has received an overwhelming response across various markets, so by popular demand we decided to shoot an additional video for the remixed track, which we are sure will also go down very well with the audience.”

One Mirch Two Versions

Mahie Gill shoots for the title song for BIG Pictures upcoming film Mirch directed by Vinay Shukla

Mumbai 16th September – National award winning director Vinay Shukla has come up with yet another multifaceted Hindi film- Mirch. The title promotional song for this latest offering was shoot today by the sexy Mahie Gill choreographed by National Award winning chorographer Saroj Khan. Also present were Arunuday Singh & Shanan Goswami who star in the film and are part of the song video. A BIG Pictures production the film’s concept is as arresting as its story-line- scheduled for an early 2010 release.

“This song sums up the film and also introduces the film to the audience,”says Vinay Shukla. “It signifies what Mirch is all about.”

What make’s this song interesting is its two versions, the folk version and the techno version. The folk version, based on a rural thematic is sung by Kalpana, is shot against a village backdrop. The techno version sung by Sharmistha Chatterjee works on the spot light concept. The numerous colour spot-lights on her will add the sizzle of `mirch’ and promises to make the screen come alive.

Mirch, more than anything, is a structural marvel. The narrative weaves four stories with that of the main story. Revolves round the protagonist Maanav, a committed struggling filmmaker threads together four narratives to make the film of his choice. This carefully cast film has Konkana Sen Sharma, Raima Sen, Shahana Goswami, Shreyas Talpade, Rajpal Yadav, Boman Irani, Sushant Singh, Arunoday Singh, Prem Chopra playing the various characters. Buddhadeb Dasgupta’s ‘window’ view of the world takes him to Toronto International Film Festival

Mumbai, September 7, 2009: Dreams, quests and journeys are the strands that make the fabric of life, and exploring the many layers of this fabric through cinema is Buddhadeb Dasgupta. The acclaimed filmmaker’s latest exploration through a ‘school window’ is slated to be premiered in the Masters of World Cinema section at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival to be held from September 10-19, 2009. Dasgupta’s latest film Janala (The Window), which has been produced by BIG Pictures, touches on the nostalgia of childhood and the quest to get back to roots while struggling to keep one’s neck above the waters of the present day muck.

The Toronto International Film Festival is almost the second home to the economic professor-turned-filmmaker, as Janala is his sixth film to be featured in the revered section at the festival. The film will be premiered in the masters of World Cinema section at the Toronto International Film Festival. The Masters section was introduced in 1996 and has since celebrated the work of outstanding filmmakers such as Ken Loach, Nagisa Oshima, Takeshi Kitano, Jean-Luc Godard, Shohei Imamura, David Lynch, Carlos Saura and Bernardo Bertolucci.

Janala is the journey of a solitary man against the wrath of circumstances when he decides to pursue his little impulsive dream. An accidental visit to his school in Jhumurpur village prompts Bimal to believe that it is his turn to give back to his alma mater. He begins with trying to reconstruct the broken window of his favourite corner classroom, and decides to take the help of the local moneylender. But when the moneylender fails to pay him the promised sum, Bimal discreetly uses the money that his fiancée Meera had been saving for their soon-to-born child. But when he reaches his school with the window, the authorities reject it. When Meera learns about the money spent by Bimal she leaves him. The film stars Tapas Paul, Swastika Mukherjee and Indraneil Sengupta.

Mumbai September 4, 2009: It’s a veritable hat-trick as three films from Big Pictures get ready to be show-cased at the 33rd Montreal World Film Festival! Shyam Benegal, Shaji Karun and Rituparno Ghosh are the three critically acclaimed directors whose films are set to grace the silver screen at Montreal. The Montreal World Film Festival scheduled for Aug. 27 to Sept. 7.

Shyam Benegal’s Well Done Abba (Stolen Well) will be screened tomorrow September 5, 6, 7 and Shaji Karun’s Kutty Srank (Sailor of Hearts) will be screened tomorrow September 5, 2009 have been selected for the ‘World Greats’ section in the Montreal World Film Festival. Kutty Shrank, Shaji Karun’s Malayalam film, brings out three distinct personalities of a dead boat-man from the perspective of three women each of whom claims to be his wife. The film stars Mamooty, Kamilini Mukherjee, Padmapriya and Meenakumari.

Abohomaan, Rituparno Ghosh’s Bengali film, brings to the screen a sensational relationship between a film-director, a young actress and a wife who swears to ruin her husband’s life and career and a son who gets caught in the cross-fire in this extravagant drama. The film stars Dipankar De, Mamata Shankar, Ananya Chatterjee, Jishu Sengupta and Ria Sen.

Mumbai, September 2, 2009: Yesteryears’ icons of Indian cinema Amol Palekar and Sharmila Tagore are all set to fascinate film buffs across Delhi, Kolkata, Maharashtra as their upcoming Marathi film ‘Samaantar’ releases across 25 screens on Friday September 4, 2009. BIG Pictures maiden Marathi the film has many highlights – Palekar is acting after his last film Khamosh directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. Thirty years after his Ankahee, Palekar has directed and acted in his own film. For the first time, Sharmila Tagore is acting in a Marathi film.
