August 6, 2010: – Reliance Big Pictures is all set for the worldwide release of Initiative Film’s Punjabi movie “Chak Jawana” on August 27, 2010. The film stars Punjab’s legendary singer and actor Gurdas Maan.
Commenting on the release, debutant director Simerjit Singh said, “Chak Jawana takes a strong stand on the existent problems of youth in our society and shows that the young generation will excel when given the right direction. It has excellent performances and I am sure that everyone will love its music.”

“Chak Jawana” has been scripted by Rupinder Chahal and Simerjit. The screenplay has been written by Mrs. Manjeet Maan and Balli Janjua. Music has been composed by Jaidev Kumar who gave music in films like “Des Hoyaa Pardes”, “Mini Punjab” and “Sukhmani”.
SYNOPSIS
‘Chak Jawana’ highlights the problems faced by youth in a Punjabi village. The young men fall prey to drugs, become irresponsible and disturb the peace. The elders despair about the future of their community. Captain Gurjeet Singh (Gurdas Maan) arrives on a month’s home leave from the Indian Navy. He reforms the youth and helps them overcome their weaknesses. The film has a powerful message on family values, determination and hope.
